Specialist in Food Contact Materials Legislation

Your mission

We are looking to recruit a Specialist in Legislation on Materials in Contact with Food (MCA) for the Laboratories division, within the Consumer Health, Safety and Environment cluster.

Your role will be to ensure regulatory compliance and the safety of materials and packaging in contact with food, supporting both clients and internal teams in the interpretation and application of current regulations.

You will have a technical role with a direct impact on clients, combining laboratory work, regulatory compliance and solution development:

Legislation and technical advice

  • Advising external and internal clients on food safety and materials in contact with food 
  • Reviewing technical and regulatory documentation (DoC, technical data sheets, regulations, etc.) 
  • Defining the tests required to verify compliance (EU and FDA) 

Testing and technical evaluation

  • Participating in:
    1. Global and specific migration testing 
    2. Permeability testing
    3. Sensory análisis
    4. Compatibility and shelf-life studies of packaging
  • Interpretation of results and preparation of technical reports 

Quality and continuous improvement

  • Experience in regulatory compliance assessment for materials in contact with food
  • Ensuring the correct application of requirements linked to ISO 17025
  • Participating in the implementation of new test methods 
  • Identifying equipment needs and process improvements 

R&D&i Projects

  • Participation in R&D projects as a team member or principal investigator
  • Identification of new project ideas (in-house or client-led) 
  • Engagement with key clients in the sector 

Dissemination and Knowledge

  • Participation in technical seminars, conferences and publications
  • Collaboration in internal and external training activities

Your profile

Education

  • Degree in Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology or related fields 
  • Postgraduate qualifications in MCA Legislation, Food Safety, Risk Assessment or Regulatory Compliance are highly desirable

Experience

  • Experience in regulatory compliance assessment for food contact materials
  • Experience in accredited laboratories (ENAC)
  • Knowledge and application of UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025
  • Experience in multidisciplinary environments 

Skills

  • High degree of autonomy, initiative and strategic vision
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders 
  • Training skills 
  • High level of English (test will be conducted) 
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
