R&D&i Specialist in Synthesis

Your mission

We are looking to hire someone to develop and execute R&D&I (Research, Development, and Innovation) projects, provide technological services (analysis and testing, technical consulting), and deliver technical training to companies in the Synthesis Department, within the Technologies area.
   
  

Your Tasks

  • Develop expertise in the synthesis of various types of thermoplastic polymers, with particular attention to preparation processes to achieve the desired physicochemical characteristics.

  • Manage and execute scale-up processes for polymer production using pilot plant reactors.

  • Prepare reports after polymer synthesis and characterization.

  • Actively participate in R&D&I projects by evaluating and proposing alternatives to initially planned steps and finding solutions to issues in developments related to the synthesis and application of polymers.

  • Identify and establish collaborations with specialized centers and partners in the field of polymer synthesis.

  • Assess the additional equipment AIMPLAS needs for new developments in the synthesis of thermoplastic materials.

  • Collaborate in reviewing growth potential in the development and application of thermoplastic polymers, their application in high-impact sectors, and engage with industry stakeholders.

  • Actively participate in funding searches and contribute to preparing project proposals for various calls focused on polymer preparation and applications.

  • Participate in scientific dissemination, technology foresight, public outreach, and communication activities.

  • Participate in training activities related to your expertise.


Your profile

Required Competencies:

  • Use of software such as Mestrenova, Chemdraw, etc.

  • Project management and proposal writing skills

  • Ability to interact with and manage clients

  • Ability to present results and engage in networking

  • Teamwork

  • Proven high level of Spanish and English


Required Education:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent, with a specialization in organic chemistry. Knowledge in polymer chemistry is highly valued.

  • Training in the synthesis of thermoplastic polymers using different techniques. Familiarity with protocols for discharging reactors in a pilot plant for pellet preparation is a plus.

  • Knowledge of polymer characterization techniques (NMR, TGA, DSC, etc.). Familiarity with plastic processing techniques such as compounding, extrusion, and injection molding is a plus.

Additional Training (Preferred):

  • Master’s degree in Polymer and Composite Materials Technologies

Experience In:

  • Scale-up processes for polymer preparation at high temperatures and pressures

  • Project management and proposal writing

  • Management and maintenance of pilot plant reactors

  • Discharge techniques for pellet preparation
